Michiana Biblical Counseling Center

We understand that there are times in life when you just need a helping hand. In fact, many people find that they are doing very well in some parts of their life, but struggle mightily in others. Now might be the time when you need someone to come alongside and encourage you from the Bible. Below are some of the common questions we hear about our ministry.

Is there any hope for this to work?

We believe that God has given us all we need to know Him and to live in a way that is pleasing to Him. All our difficulties may not evaporate. However, when a person willingly submits to God's instructions, and clings to his promises, there is hope and help.

There are answers for dealing with whatever you might be facing. In fact, many of our counselees see significant progress in 8-12 weeks.

What kind of concerns do people that come for counseling have?

We see people who are dealing with all kinds of problems, but the most common problems are marriage difficulties, parenting challenges, harmful habits, sexual sin and struggles with emotions (depression, anger, grief, bitterness,...etc). In all cases, we use the Bible, God’s Sufficient Word, to answer the problems of life.

What is “Biblical Counseling”?

In Biblical Counseling, the counselor seeks to come alongside another, hear the need, and skillfully apply the truth and principles of God’s Word to bring about lasting change in the thinking and behavior of the counselee, resulting in praise and glory to God!

Are the counselors at Michiana Biblical Counseling Center qualified?

All of our counselors go through a rigorous training program in biblical counseling. All counselors at the Michiana Biblical Counseling Center are either certified by the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC) or in the process of certification.

When is counseling available?

Michiana Biblical Counseling Center hours are Sundays from 6:00-7:15 PM, Mondays from 4:00 – 9:30 pm and Wednesdays from 7:00 - 8:15 pm.

What does the counseling service cost?

Since First Baptist Church provides the facilities, and all of the Michiana Biblical Counseling Center counselors volunteer their time, we can offer counseling free of charge. However, out of respect for our staff, we require a $25 deposit which is forfeited for cancellations after 9:00 AM on the day of the scheduled appointment. In cases where the deposit is forfeited, a new deposit of $25 is required to resume counseling. If a counselee discontinues counseling, or graduates from counseling, without a cancellation, the deposit is returned.

What can I expect from MBCC if I come?

First of all at Michiana Biblical Counseling Center, you can expect that everything will be held in strict confidence except where, in the counselor’s judgment, there is a biblical requirement to involve others (e.g. criminal activity, danger to self or others,...etc.). Second, you can expect that our staff will care for you and treat you with respect. Third, you can expect our staff to encourage you in your successes and exhort you to think and behave in a way that pleases Jesus Christ.

What does MBCC expect from you?

We have three requests from you. First, we ask you to be honest. It is very difficult, if not impossible, to help you if you continually lie to us. Second, we ask you to do weekly homework assignments that will encourage lasting change. Third, we ask you to give us a little time. Habits were not developed overnight and new habits will take several weeks to develop.

How Soon Can I Begin Counseling?

Initially, you will receive a packet that explains the steps to receiving counsel at MBCC. Once you have completed the steps listed, you will begin counseling when a counselor becomes available. If there is no waiting list, you will be begin receiving counsel quickly. If there is a waiting list, you will be called when you reach the top of the waiting list.
